Ingredients
- 2 medium Hass avocados
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Cut the avocados in half, lengthwise, and take out the pits.
- Scoop the avocado into a medium sized bowl and mash it up until it's smooth.
- Add lemon juice, salt, pepper, and garlic powder and mix well.
Tips: Avocados have a dark skin and can be hard to determine whether or not they are ripe. There are a couple tips to tell you how ripe they are when you buy them.
- Check for the firmness of the avocado. If it is very soft and gives easily, it is too ripe and will likely not taste as good when you are ready to use it. You want to choose an avocado that is mostly firm, but has a little give to it when you press the skin.
- Check the color. Now this can be confusing because there is not usually a big difference between the color of an avocado that is ripe and one that is not, but if the skin still looks very green, it is not ripe. If the skin is very dark, it is ripe.
- Find where the stem is attached to the avocado and pull it off. If it is green underneath, it is ripe, but not rotten. If it is brown, or it is missing, it may be too ripe, or rotten and not good to eat.
